We were both very pleased to see how well the pathway is marked all along with Coastal Path signs. I think it'd be possible to do the whole thing without a map - but we're glad to have it with us, of course.

Today was just eight miles but we saw many lovely things including:

Binstead Church where we overheard the congregation singing in four part harmony. (And we didn't dare go in and interrupt them.)

Lovely green tunnel pathways passing through the local golf course.

Quarr Abbey where we were drawn in by the service bell for their 10 am Mass. We stayed for just the beginning when we saw the procession in, the Abbey church fill with incense and the Monks singing the service. (This photo was taken before the service began. I'm not that naughty.)

And Quarr Abbey's famous pigs, who couldn't be happier, what being in mud and all.
After Quarr Abbey much of the pathway was along the roadside and behind people's gardens. This was fine, of course, as most of the guide books and websites warned us of this. We wanted to stop in at Osborne House anyway, so we knew we'd have lovely things to see.

Of course, Dad spotted a particularly lovely cultivated field so we had to stop to take a picture of that.
Osborne House was magnificent - the perfect place to sit down and eat our packed lunches, rest our feet and take in the view and history of the place. Here are a few photos:

(Queen Victoria's spinning wheel for Susan.)
Osborne House also has a lovely walled garden with vegetables, herbs and a very interesting hot house with tropical plants.
From Osborne House we continued along the path towards Cowes and the Chain Ferry.
This was quite a fun thing to do - just £1 each to travel across the bay to West Cowes. It couldn't have taken more than five minutes in total but it was an interesting little highlight of our trip. We arrived at our B&B by 3 pm and then relaxed in the room for a while before heading back to the town for dinner at a restaurant called Coast.
Tomorrow we walk 15 miles to Yarmouth. It's listed as an 'easy' walk, but we'll tell you what our feet think of that tomorrow evening!!
In the meantime, we'll keep the sea to our right.
